Our Story

Since 1987, the All France Rugby Club has been bringing people together through rugby in Tokyo.

At first, it was simple: a ball, a few French players, and the desire to keep playing rugby far from home. Very quickly, AFRC became more than a team. It became a place to meet friends, welcome newcomers, share a drink after training, discover Japan through rugby, and keep a little piece of French rugby culture alive in Tokyo.

Across the decades, hundreds of players have worn the AFRC jersey. Some stayed for a season, others for many years. Some came as students, expatriates, diplomats, engineers, teachers, chefs or travelers. Many left Japan, but remained part of the club’s extended family.

The club’s archives tell this story: early player lists, recruitment posters, old logos, match reports, team photos, tours, third halves, anniversary events and countless memories shared by former players. Each season added a new chapter.

The 30th anniversary in 2017 brought generations of players back together. The next major chapter will be the club’s 40th anniversary in 2027, a moment to celebrate not only the matches and results, but also the people who made AFRC what it is today.
